Jennie M. Pond

Jennie M. Pond, 94, Hunter, died Nov. 2 at her residence. She was born Oct. 2, 1890 in Lexington to Delmar and Hattie Mann Mackey.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 5 at 2 p.m. at the Aston/Basagic Funeral Home in Hunter with the Rev. Philip Miles officiating. Interment followed in the Maplewood cemetery in South Jewett.

She is survived by three sons: Donald Pond of Hunter; Milton K. Pond of Hunter and Kenneth Pond of Charlotte, N.C.; one daughter Evelyn Pond of Hunter; one brother William Mackey of Hunter; one sister Hazel Wiers of Worcester, Mass. Also surviving are six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren[,] her cousin Audry Moore of Windham and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Pond became a member of Echo Del Rebecca Lodge on August 10, 1909 and has served the lodge as Noble Grand from 1924 to 1925; as district Deputy President of Greene from 1936 to 1937 and again from 1947 to 1948. In May 1955 she was appointed chaplain of Rebecca Assembly of the state of New York by President Mary Cotti. She was a 75 a year member of Echo Del Rebecca Lodge and held continuous office until the Lodge disbanded in September 1982.
