Richard, My Pons connections came to the Port of New Orleans directly from Spain. All their records that I have obtained so far have all been from Catholic Churches. I am currently 3 generations back into Spain. The "other" Pons line that I know of is the Minorcans who went to 1700's to settle a colony there. There are web pages that you can read about these Pons from Menorca, Spain. I find Pons and my other lines names primarily in New Orleans, Florida, Cuba, Canary Islands.....all of these were originally from Spain. Looks like they also went south to various parts of South America too.

On the Island of Menorca, it is the Catalonian Dialect that they speak....this is also found around Barcelona.

Have yet to find any evidence that would even suggest a Jewish connection. What is it that you have seen that made you think there was Jewish connection?
