If you are lucky, they were members of the Catholic Church - and that is where I would start - writing to the Churches in Guatemala. Get marriage, baptismal records, etc.

Sometimes other things are noted in the records - like one record I have from Spain from the early 1700's mentions that the family came from Genoa/Genova, Italy. (Not my Pons line)

So, that would be where to start - Churches and Archives in Guatemala. Copy and paste this into your browser - and select Guatemala - http://home.att.net/~Local_Catholic/Catholic-CAmerica.htm#Select%20Location

It will give you address and phone to contact the various Churches there.

When you have gone as far as you can go in Guatemala - you need to see if there are any old immigration records, ship passenger lists - to determine where they came from if that info in not in the Church info.

Best of luck on your search!

Beverly
