hi there,the name Pontiac is normaly Pontic
why is converted to Pontiac ? beacause...
when the Pontic greeks (Pontic empire ,a region formerly was todays in turkey in the medieval) imigrates from ottoman empire (osmanic empire) to north america they was called as the Pontic peoples ...time after time was they called as the Pontiacs OR Pontiac...the Name was maded softer!
normaly in greek language will be written as Pontiaka OR Pontiaca,the K was changed with cC because it hears the same!
The Pontiacs OR Pontic OR Pontiaka OR Pontiaca are greek minority who lives in turkey....mostly muslims not greek orthodox christians....
the christians of the pontiaka greeks , they imigrates out of turkey...to greece,australia,usa,kanada etc...
the region is in the blacksea ....see here:
