I have started re-working on my Poorman line and have added a good bit of information on all Pennsylvania Poormans. However I have some I can't connect with others or can't find certain dates, or can't find children. Rootsweb has been very helpful, especially the Family Hart entries. I am going to post a number of separate posts of "lost to me" Poormans. I hope someone will recognize the name and help me out. My own line is Barbara Poorman who married Jacob F. Moyer (may have been Myer when they were in Lancaster). I don't have much on her but I got interested in all her siblings and then their children and well, I now have over a thousand entries but want to document the information other than Rootsweb entries.
So the first question is with the George Poorman I was working on last night. I have:
George Poorman, born 7 Sept 1811, Centre County, PA, son of John and Elizabeth Harper Poorman. George married Anna Marie "Polly" Krise who was b. May 1810 and died 11 Nov. 1875. That info is from the Internet. I found in the Census on Ancestry a George Poorman in Boggs, Centre in 1850 married to Mary age 40 and with children Emilen (dau), Sarah age 14, Amos W. age 12, Catharine age 11, John W or M age 8 and Alvin M can't read age.
Is this the right George?
Does anyone have other info as I can't find him again in PA in any Census. I went thru all the 1860 entries looking for George, Mary, Anna/Marie and Polly but nothing came up. So I tried the children Amos and Alvin thinking their names were more unusual for Poorman children, but nothing. A entry from Ohio showed this info but I am not sure it is the right family:
