Julie, When I get time to look up your Melchior I can tell you more. I will send into to your personal email address.
I do know a lady, I think her name was Whitehurst who joined the DAR a couple of years ago who used Peter Poorman, the elder as her patriot. He was too old to serve as a soldier, but made contributions to the war effort in goods and services. As you probably know most of the elders in the family were prosperous farmers and blacksmiths in the 1800/1900 period.

I am a member of DAR. I will look at the member's page on the internet and see what they have on Melchior. Dates and places are important because there were so, so many repetitions of first names in the family line. Luckily it is somewhat rare surname as the original spelling was in German, Burman or Purman.

What I am working on for a second DAR submission is the proof that my Peter Poorman, son of the elder is the same one from Londonderry Twp, of Lancaster Co., who was a minuteman. My guy moved to Westmoreland Co. after his father died, living for a while in another county. Trying to prove that my Peter is the same one as the other Peter is the problem.

My "book" is a PAF and a WORD file and not a hard copy.

More later, write to me at my email address listed above.
