Don't be fooled by the fact that my surname is Popka, this cam about when my father came to the UK in 1944 and his handwriting and pronunciation was misunderstood!
My fatgher had 6 brithers and a sister, the oldest brother moved to France in 1930 as a language teacher. He settled in a small village north of Chaumont. the family continues to grow in both France and in England.
I live in York and have a sister. I have 3 children who are also named popka. Does anyone know the origin of the name?
