Pople - S London - mid C19th
My great-grandfather, Christopher George Hall, married Rosina Pople in S. London (UK), on 11.9.1889 at Church of the Ascension, Balham Hill, Streatham; she was a spinster aged 27 of 55 Ravenswood Rd, Clapham], he a bachelor, Ironmonger, aged 29, of 163 Manor Street, Clapham; on their marriage certificate, her father is named as George William Pople, 'Gentleman' (i.e. presumably wealthy enough not to have a profession or trade).
I can't find any trace of Rosina before this date, or of George William, even though Pople is a rather rare name - can anyone help make a link?? Family tradition is that they might well have come from S W England (I know Pople is quite common in some counties, e.g. Somerset).
