Martha

I am looking for the ancestors of a Jesse Poplin of Montgomery/Stanly County N.C. who was probably born between 1790 and 1800. It is thought by some that he is not of the larger Poplin family of the Piedmont region of NC but instead changed his name from something similar. I have been playing with a theory that he was in fact a Peebles.(Various spellings of this families name include Peeples, Peoples, Poeblis, Poblitz, Popliz(Chatham County NC), and Pupliz) A very very often used named in the Peebles family is JEHU. I have been interested in the Tennessee Jehu Poplin for some time. I would be happy to share my info on the possible Peebles/Poplin connection if you would like it. I would also love to hear any information you have on Jehu Poplin.
