Although the names are Poplin family names, I don't think there is a close connection.

There seems to have been a migration of Poplins out of NC into TN in the early 1800s. My ggggrandfather was G. L. Poplin, Sr. In the family Bible there are Roy Lester Poplin and Green Lee Poplin Jr. G.L. Sr's father was William Poplin, b. 1789 in Montgomery County, SC. I also have documents indicating that William was raised in Anson Co. SC. William moved to Bedford Co shortly after 1820. If any of his peers or siblings came with him, I cannor verify it, but it is possible they stopped in other parts of TN. William died in Bedford Co. TN.

Most of the Poplins I've run across trace back to a George Poplin in VA. THis might be interesting to you.
