Poppells of Perry, Fl.

  of 201

My grandparents were Levi Boyt Poppell and Lillie Pearl Poppell. It has been told to me from a cousins research that Levi Boyt Poppells parents were Martin Pope Poppell and Nancy Howell. Nancy Howell was Half Seminole Indian. Her Siblings were Nighie Howell(married a Padgett). Snow Howell (a government agent for the seminole tribe) and Will Howell. Martin Pope Poppell told the story that he and his two brothers Jack and Will came from Virginia. Jack stayed in Georgia and Will went west. Martin Poppell never heard again from Will but kept in touch with Jack.
Lillie Pearl Poppell born in 1898 and died July 19, 1990. Her parents were Lillian Bishop and General Grant York. Lillian Bishop's siblings were Fair, Fay, Minnie and May. They were all orphans in the Aucilla, Fl. childerns orphanage. I can not find any further records. Lillian Bishop never spoke of her parents. There was a Martin Bishop from Wakeenah, Fl. who would visit from time to time.General Grant York had only one brother Jabe York. I have not further information on them.
