Cynthia,
My last name is Porras. As far as I know originally this is a French name (Porres). The first Porres came to Spain to help expel the Moorish from Seville. While in Spain the vowel opened and the name changed to Porras. There were Porras traveling to America in the third trip of Colon. Within Spain there are Porras in many communities from the North to the South. This I have learn from my family thus please do not think it is well reached.
