I have been researching CAMPBELL genealogy in the Desoto & Potosi areas of Missouri and found some interesting Portells.
Mary “Mamie” Rose CAMPBELL b. 12 Feb 1894 d. 1 Jul 1966 married 5 Jun 1918 Thomas Nicholas PORTELL b. 17 Feb 1892 d. 29 Sep 1966. (Son of Adolph PORTELL & Alice BOYER)
Mary And Thomas are buried in St James cemetery in Washington County MO. Mary's ancestry seems to be:
1. Thomas F. CAMPBELL, born: 1856/7 d. 3 Jul 1924 married 26 Apr 1881 [7] Mary Ellen McAvinne
2. Michael CAMPBELL,probably of Armagh County, Ireland b 15 Oct 1812 d 9 Apr 1888 age 76
3. Patrick CAMPBELL b. 1792 d. 24 Sep 1876 Gravestone says b in County Armagh Ireland.
I suspect that Michael Campbell had a brother James who moved to St. Louis. The James I am searching for had a son Patrick, and also a grandson John James, as did Michael.
I am searching for other genealogists working on this place and time and hope you are interested too. So far I hav ebeen unable to find anyone else working on Missouri CAMPBELL genealogy, at least you are working on genealogy and seem to be related to this family.
