If we are talking about the same person, unfortunately I do not have much in the way of information on Russell Winson II. The spelling as far as I know is Russell. I have him married twice, name of first wife is unknown but they had a son named Steven Peacock (Steven's sir name is from his adopted family). I corresponded with him over the net in 2000. According to my records, your grandfather was born June 19, 1923 and married secondly to Jacqueline Ruth Middlekopp Nove. 8, 1952. A book titled The Porteous Story written about the Porteous families all over the world, author/editor by Barry Porteous, mentions that your grandfather retired (year not given, but I assume about 1978 or so) from the U.S. army and reserve after 33 years of military service and retired as a Brigader Gerneral. Unfortunately, I have nothing else to offer. I have been working for the past 20+ years on the Porteous family tree and did correspond via email with Kathleen Porteous, your aunt back in 2000. You are right that your grandfather was Russell Winson II as his father was Russell Winson I, son of Joseph Porteous and Alice Rebecca Denton. I will say nothing further on your ancestry just to state that we are very distant relatives as your great grand father was my grandfather's 1st cousin.
