Porterfield, Morgan, Nashville Female Academy

Francis Porterfield b. September 8, 1785 d. June 3, 1833 married Malinda Morgan b. September 21, 1795 d. October 21, 1869.

Their son Robert Porterfield b. 1822 married Mary Figuers/Figures b. unknown. Married March 22, 1842 in Nashville, TN. They had a son Frank born 1843.

In the 1850 Census for Nashville, Davidson County, TN, I find a Malinda Porterfield age 55 and Frank Porterfield, age 8. I believe these two to be Malinda Morgan Porterfield and her grandson Frank, son of Robert and Mary. In the left hand margin, written vertically, is the phrase "Nashville Female Academy".

Can anyone tell me more about the people listed above? And why would Malinda and grandson Frank be at the Nashville Female Academy? I understand it was a boarding school for young ladies.

Any info would be appreciated.
