I have a collection of documents concerning this John Porterfield and Sarah _______, along with several stories of the ship wreck.

I am a collector of Porterfield family history, but I have not been able to connect this John Porterfield to my Porterfield family, so haven't really done anything with this information yet. I am sure he connects to my Porterfield family from Kilmalcolm, Renfrewshire, Scotland then Donegal County, Ireland and on to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, but I do not know how he connects.

This collection includes a copy of a 1995 letter from the Town Clerk, Town of Georgetown, Maine, with copies of Georgetown births and marriages for Porterfield.

Also have a copy of a typewritten page that starts out "Ref: Manuscript in Maine Historical Society, Portland, Ma.. by Mrs J. H. Chamberlain, 63 Lake Morton Dr., Lakeland, Florida (1955) incomplete". The title of this page is "Porterfield".

Between the two documents, 7 of the 8 children are listed as follows:
John b. December 1743 in G.
Martha b. September 18, 1745 in G.
Margaret b. May 14, 1748 in G.
Mary b. December 26, 1750 in G.
Sarah b. October 21, 1754 in G.
James b. June 27, 1756 in G.
Janet b. June 27, 1759 in G.

The following marriages are listed:
Mary m. Samuel Todd April 14, 1773.
Sarah m. David Hutchins May 18, 1777.
Margaret m. Arthur Percey April 23, 1786.

The Maine Historical Society document states that Martha may have married John Foote. Also states John Porterfield and Sarah ______ married November 1742, John was listed as Indian Fighter, could have been an older brother of the Patrick of Thomaston or perhaps a cousin. Says John is listed as one of a group of men who organized a Presbyterian Church at Pleasant Cove in Georgetown, Maine, now Phippsburg, in 1736. Says the family lived near Parker Head and is so marked on the 1750 North map and then later on Cox Head at Porterfield Creek.

Information I have is that Sarah _____ was born August 13, 1722 Parish of Raphae, Donegal County, Ireland.
