Porterfield Clan

I read some postings regarding our family's clan affiliation. The Porterfield's are a clan to themselves. We are recognized as a clan by the Standing Council of Scottish Chiefs and by The Court of the Lord Lyon. One posting indicated we were a sept of the MacNaughton Clan; there is a Porter family that is a sept of the MacNaughton clan, but that is a different family.
