Clarence L. PORTERFIELD m Clara L, [NUNNELLEY] abt 1919 in Ala - probably Birmingham. They both worked for Western Union.
They are shown on the 1920 census:
1920 Jefferson Co Al/ED 195/Birmingham/HH 68-116/pg 130b
Porterfield, C L/roomer/wm age 31 Al/Al/Al/ married
PORTERFIELD, Clara/roomer/wf age 23 Al/Al/Al/ married

Apparently they separated or divorced as they are last shown in the Birmingham directory living together in 1925:
Porterfield, Clarence & Clara, r. 1500 N. 25th

In 1930 he is living at 804 14th Ave. S (Birmingham) and Clara is living with her parents:
1930 Jefferson Co Al/ED 32/Birmingham/HH 127-174/pg 273a
NUNNELLEY, Manson/HH/wm age 77 Al/Va/Va/md age 34 Nunnelley, Mattie V/wife/wf age 68 Ms/al/Al/md age 25
PORTERFIELD, Clare/dtr/wf age 28 Al/Al/Ms/ telegraph operator (apparently Clara had no chn as none are listed)

Mrs Clara Porterfield is shown in the Birmingham city directories until 1941. I don't know what happened to her after that (that's what I'm hoping to find out...)

A Clarence L. Porterfield died 15 Sep 1952 in Mobile Co Al and there is a Clarence L. Porterfield born 29 Oct 1889 - died 15 Sep 1952 buried in the Evergreen Cemetery, Ocean Springs, Jackson Co, Ms - they seem to be the same man ???

This is all I know about Clarence - I cannot even find him on the 1900 or 1910 censuses. If anyone is looking for him, maybe this information will fill in some of the blanks as I'd hate to see him fade into history that way.
