Hi, I have quite a bit of information on Porterfields from Fayette County. My husband's immediate family originally came from Somerset County and settled in Rogers Mill, Saltlick Twp. My husband's name is Ben Jr., his father was Ben Sr., his grandfather was Daniel, and his great-grandfather was Henry. Neither my husband nor myself have heard of a Benjamin Franklin or Franklin Benjamin, but his grandfather, Daniel, had a brother, Frank. I haven't looked at my records for some time but I will try to look into them for you tonight. Find any Porterfield in Fayette or Westmoreland Counties that may be doing genealogy and you will find your connection. They are all related.

One of Henry Porterfield's sons moved to Westmoreland County, one came to Connellsville and some stayed in the mountain area. He also had a son, Simon, his oldest, who remained in Somerset County and one William, who I think was in the Ohiopyle/Confluence area. Hope this helps. As I stated, I will try to get to my records later tonight.

Beverly Domer from Connellsville does lots with the genealogy of many families. She is mostly homebound and spends much time on her favorite passtime...GENEALOGY. Please provide your email addy and I will have her contact you.
