Irish Porterfields - who stayed behind?

I'm an English Porterfield who's grandmother was an Donegal Porterfield. I have good recent history (family reminiscence, 1912 Ulster Covenant) and good well known old porterfield history. I would love to connect myself to the Scottish Lairds but I have a bit missing in between. Does anyone know if any of William and Isobel's children / grand children remained in Ireland and did not emigrate to USA? If so I would be their descendant. Can it be shown that the whole family moved to America, if so, how come I have porterfield relatives in Donegal as recently as 1905? Can anyone help? Thank you very much in advance!
