Hello Sally - Do you have a birth cert for William? I don't know what he was doing with Susan for the census - I've been in touch with Joy Powell too wondering whether he was one of hers. If you don't have his birth cert then I will send off for it this weekend - I have a couple of others to get as well so that we can find out who his parents were. He is the first Portsmouth I've found from Berks with any of 'mine' - it's very intriguing because I've always thought there must be some link with the ones from Berkshire too. I can't find him in the 1881 census either - only a William Portsmouth born in Wokingham which I don't think is the same one. Best wishes - Christine
