Just noticed your posting. There were a whole group of Postlethwaites on the same road in the 1860 Census - and I assume they were all related - thus there is probably a connection. I suspect they were brothers or otherwise related. We do have evidence that my grandmother was at a different Postlethwaite's house for one farm census. We suspect that my great grandfather may have gone back to England to see his father, and his wife was at James Postlethwaite's.
You will find that one Census taker spelled our name one way, while another spelled it the other way. Would love to share information with you. I use Family Tree Maker 7.0 now - and have 5,862 people in our combined family tree.
