Great grandfather, Henry (Johanna), moved to IA from Friesland around 1891-92. He was a dairy farmer in the old country and in IA and MI. My grandfather, Charles Henry, was first of his family to be born in US, in 1892. Family moved to Ada, MI. Married Kate Van Lier in 1918, after he returned from WWI, where he served as a medic. Had seven children. My father, Earl Martin, was born in MI in 1920. Married Lola Marie Wieland (German) in 1945. They had four children, one being me, Dale Martin. Married Elena Rostislavovna Plakunova (Russian) in 1988. My son, Martin Ray, was born in 1990. The use of "Martin" as his surname made for six generations w/i the extended family of its use.
