Hi John,

I'm quite interested in your Potten ancestors. I have a lot of information on 18th and 19th Century Pottens living in East Sussex and 16th and 17th Century ones from Hawkhurst. A branch went off into Cranbrook in the 18th Century but unfortunately parish records of that time have been lost and therefore it is not possible at present to conclusively make the links to the main tree.

If it is possible to find the parents of your grandfather, William, it might be possible to tie the family in with others in my possession. Have you visited my Potten website at ?

By the way, my mother-in-law is a Potten living in Worthing.
