Ellen/Nellie was from London, England. I finally was able to get her marriage license to Robert John WARD and it states her as "spinster." That was disappointing due to the fact that I did not get her parents' names. I have found a listing of a POULSON family on the 1881 British Census, which has a strong possibility for being my Ellen's family because one of her sister's names was Alice and that's what Ellen/Nellie named one of her daughters. Here is the information from the 1881 Census:
William POULSON - head - m- male - 47 - Thorpe, Suffolk England - farm laborer
Maria Poulson - wife, - m- female- 43 - Buxhall, Suffolk, England - farm labourer wife
Thomas Poulson - son - u - male - 21 - Brent Eleigh, Suffolk, England - farm labourer
Elizabeth Poulson - daur - female - 18 - Preston, Suffolk England - Domestic Servant
Robert POULSON - son - male - 16 - Brent Elieigh, Suffolk England - farm labourer
Sarah POULSON - daur - female - 14 - Preston, Suffolk, England - Servant
Frederic - son - male - 12 - Preston, Suffolk, England, Farmers boy
Henry - son - male - 10 - Preston, Suffolk, England, Scholar
Emily - daur - female - 7 - Pres., Suf/Engl
Ellen - daur - female - 5 - Pres/Suf/Eng
Alice - daur - female - 3 - Pres/Suf/Eng
William - son - male - 1 - Pres/Suf/Eng
Catherine - Gd Daur - female - 1m - Pres/Suf/Engl
Another reason I believe this is my family is because of the mother's name...Maria. My Ellen's middle name was Marian or Anne Marie (as it has been written).
