I have recently been able to trace my family back from London to Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. This is a summary:

Great grandparents: John POULTON [b 1845, Welwyn, Herts; d 1895, London] and Catharine GALLAGHER (GOLLER) [b 1849, London; d 1939, London] who married at the Parish Church of St. Jude, Greys Inn Road in 1873.

His mother was Anne POULTON [b 1823,Welwyn, Herts] She was never married.

Her parents were John POULTON [b 1791, Luton, Beds; d 1864, Welwyn, Herts] and Sarah EVANS [b 1790, Barton-Le-Clay, Beds; d 1828, Welwyn, Herts] who married at the Parish Church of St. Mary, in Luton, Beds in 1811.

His parents were John POULTON [b 1755, Chalgrave, Beds; d 1835, Welwyn, Herts] and Mary DORRINGTON [b 1764, Harpenden, Herts; d 1847, Welwyn, Herts] who married at the Parish Church of St. Mary, in Luton, Beds in 1789.

His parents were Thomas POULTON and Ann [Chalgrave, Beds].

I would be most interested to hear from anyone who knows any of these folk!
