Richard, Thank you for replying to my posting. In as much as one of Issac Poulton's grandsons is an Issac Newton Gromer; and I noted on your other postings a West and James connection; I would conclude that connection is possible/plausible/ probable. Jacob Gromer who married Barbara Jane Poulton built the house in which the James boys were born. Gromers were neighbors and possible traveled with Robert James to the California Gold fields.
Unfortunately, I do not have much else as this family was somewhat tight lipped about their past. One researcher states that our Issac Poulton was transport about 1775. He is in WV by 1780. I located a Poulton who married a Dyer/Dryer that appears to be connected to the Dyers in Fort Siebert WV circa 1760. If true, they were originally Quaker.
