I cannot tie a Matilda into my line at the moment, doesn't mean she's not related, just I haven't found her yet.
Do you have the marriage certificate? If so it should give her father's name, which would help.
Free BMD list the marriage as
March Quarter 1872
District Bethnal Green
Volume 1c
Page 615
They also have the birth of a Matilda Poulton
which may or may not be her as
March Qtr 1853
District Bethnal Green
Volume 1c
Page 238

I suggest that you send for the marriage certificate, if you don't already have it, & take it from there.
