Thank you Charles for this information. For anyone who might be interested, the subject is William Jones Pouncey, a primitive baptist preacher in Montgomery and Crenshaw counties, Alabama. William J. was born in SC 22 July 1803, the son of Samuel and Sarah Pouncey, and died in Crenshaw County Alabama, 28 June 1878. He is buried in New Providence Cemetery, Glenwood, AL. His tombstone is nearly impossible to read and would be passed over as undecipherable if you did not know he was there. His marker is right at the left front of the cemetery as you are facing it from the road. The top line reads Rev. W.J. Pouncey though reading this will take some imagination. He was married four times and had children by three of his wives. The last was Phoebe Lockard. I would love to hear from any of his descendents. He was a younger brother of my great grandfather, John B. Pouncey.

Bill Pouncey
