Hi Bill Marsha and Michelle,

I too am one of the MANY descendants of Light Townsend. I haven't done much Townsend research in a couple of years though was "up" on it at one time. A couple of quick questions. We know that Light's wife was named Delilah from which records again? I have to look it up in my files. I believe there is actually an old Bible record, there may also be a deed record.

I had heard that there was no actual proof about the Pouncey connection and that it was speculation. However it is interesting that the uncommon name Delilah is in the Pouncey family, unless Pouncey was selected because of the name Delilah!

The Townsends gave us a blessing by naming their children with family names over and over through several generations..with many we dont know for certainty where they come through, example Light, Spencer, Sumner, and a number of others.

There is no Pouncey that I have seen. I did notice a later Pouncey Stapleton connection. One thing Ive seen about genealogy is that the same families continually intermarried over and over, so there are clues available.

Can we go the other way and rule out a Pouncey connection? Why was Pouncey thought of in the first place? And, could Elizabeth Stapleton, wife of Thomas Townsend son of Light, possibly be a Pouncey descendant?
