American Pounder from Cork, 1880's

Just wanted to know if anyone has heard of a Pounder (John?) who settled in Philadelphia in the late 1800's. Family rumours have him originally coming from Cork, Ireland. His son was in the army in WWI and then moved to San Antonio.
