I am researching my Charlton ancestors and found a reference to this John, Barron of Powis. If the pronounciation of Powis, somewhere along the line, is Pow-is, I thought a derivitive might be Pointon. (Pow-ton) I believe Pointon Charlton, born in the mid-1700s, living in Washington Co. Tenn in 1820, might, therefore, be a descendant. He was a plantation owner and apparently well-off. Please contact me if you have any ideas or information
