I think I can help you a bit with your Welsh ancestors.

Richard Powis/Powes was born c 1858 in Beaufort, Brecknock and in the 1871 census he is at Twyncynghordy, Brynmawr, Brecknock (ref RG10/5585 folio 43 page 10)
In the September quarter of 1878 there is a marriage registration of Richard Powis and Mary Ann Woods (Crickhowell volume 11b page 47)
They had the following children

John Richards Powis b 1879 Nantyglo, Monmouthshire

George W Powis b c 1882 Nantyglo
Rachel A Powis b 1887 Nantyglo (Rachel was Mary Ann Woods mother's first name)
Albert Powis b 1890 Merthyr Tydfil

In the 1881 census Richard is at Abercarne , Mynyddslwyn at ref RG11/5272 folio 69 page 35 and is described as a coal haulier
In the 1891 census the whole family is at Nantyglo at ref RG12/4352 folio 8 page 10

I may also have some information on previous generations
