Hi Kristen,

I have just started researching my family history.
I was born in the North West of the UK and have lived there all my life.
Apparently one of my ancestors George, his wife Elinor and their six children were the first Pownalls to emigrate to the USA in 1682.
They went on one of William Penn’s ships, ‘The Friends’ Adventure’.
George purchased 1000 acres of land from Penn in Pennsylvania but died a month later when a tree fell on him.
His son George married Hannah Hutchinson and they had four children.
Their son John married Elizabeth Ely and they had eight children including another George who married Anna Johnson around 1780.
They had a daughter, Mary but I cannot find any trace of her husband. She was apparently born back in the UK but I would like to find out more about her.
I hope you find this useful and if you can help it would be much appreciated.

Kind regards,
David John Pownall
