Liz,

Aye! It's my family too.Robert Powrie was a shoemaker from Inchture,Perthshire. He served in the Royal Artillary from 1804-1819. He sailed from England with wife Ester Deacon on board the naval ship Cumbria to South Africa. Two of his sons left for Australia, one ended in New Zealand

It shows that he was 19 when he enlisted and he lists his occupation as Shoemaker, born in Inchture, Perth. Date of enlistment was 25 Nov 1803. He was a Private for 6 years and 143 days, a Corporal for 8 years and 345 days. The reason for discharge was reduction and he was admitted to the pension list at 11 small d? per day from 1 Feb 1819. Total of 15 years, 123 days. He was 34 and 4/12 years of age when discharged.
