Debye,
Thank you for replying to my query about John Poyner. I can trace my Poynor /Poyner ancestry to my great great grandfather John Poynor who married Eliza or Elizabeth Digges. Their son, Digges Poynor was born in Caswell County ,NC in 1790 and he later was in Mecklenburg Co , VA and later settled in Lawrenceville,, Brunswick Co, VA. His second wife was Eliza Clifton Caroline Purdy and they had one son Digges who went to VMI and later to West Alabama. There were several Poynors in Caswell Co before the revolution or about that time. My Uncle , son of Digges (Jr) was named Dudley Digges. I found that an Elizabeth Digges was a daughter of the second marriage of Dudley Digges, (Yorktown) and Elizabeth Wormeley. She was born about 1769 making her about 21 when Digges was born in 1790. John , son of Nathan Poyner would have been an appropriate age. Thsi is a lot of todo with only "circumstatntial" evidence. Thanks for listening . I guess this rules out Nathan's John. Thanks anyway. Mary Ellen
