I too am a long time descendent from POYNER family that settled in Currituck County, NC in early 1700's.PETER POYNER #1 and wife Elizabeth and children had moved from Norfolk County, Virginia to NC. Members of their family moved away to many other states as time went on. This according to the County Book for Currituck, North Carolina. The information in that book says: "Peter Poyner I was born in England, probably between 1635 and 1660, left the English port of Bristol bound for the English colony of Barbados in the Caribbean between 1663 and 1679. By 1680 he resided in Lower Norfolk County, Virginia, on land along the Southern Branch of the Elizabeth River......etc....."There is more information, continuing to Peter Poyner II and Sophia Taylor who were parents of 10 children named in the article.
Are you interested in this "branch" or some of this info?My lineage is through Mary Poyner who married a Mercer way back then.
