I have found further information and am now in touch with my grandmothers nephew (her sister Ivy's son) so have made contact with that side of the family.
Apparently, the "shop" I had been told about was not belonging to Samuel, it was a corset shop at the top end of Rathbone Stret, next to Wicks, and was owned by one of Samuel's sister's, Minnie.
However, he had some kind of a workshop "off of Rathbone Street" and having found that Wilberforce Street figures strongly in census info of family history, I am now trying to find pictures of the houses on Wilberforce Street. this area was damaged in the Blitz, torn down and rebuilt, the roads are now More Close and Killip Close.
Thanks for any help.
