Hi Stephen,
Hey, I am from a branch of your family here in Canada! My great-grandfather was Peveril Poyser, who emmigrated to Canada with his brother Reuben from the village of Oncote near Sheffield, England, in 1888. Peveril was married with 6 children when he emmigrated, and he and his wife had 3 more children here in Canada. Their second youngest child was my grandmother, Betsy Hannah Poyser. The Poyser families settled in Emmeline, Manitoba (about 1 1/2 hours west of Winnipeg). On the 100th anniversary of that date, the family published a history, including many letters, stories, and pictures of their pioneer life. The family is wide-spread now, but my mother's generation are still very close-knit. At least some of them have been in touch with the Australian branch of the family, as this is mentioned in the history book. There are also some relatives in the Oncote area still. The old farmhouse they lived in is still there.

Apparently Peveril tried several times to emmigrate to Australia, but that each time something happened to prevent it. That's how he ended up in Canada. (We're bitter about that when it's -40C in the winter!!)

I'd love to correspond with you if you want more information!
