I suspect you are right. The dates all match up. By the way, Amelie is listed in the Kansas land purchase archives as Amelia. About 1856 she purchased in her own name several hundred acres along the Santa Fe Trail, about 20 miles southwest of Lawrence. Perhaps it wasn't in John's name because her family bankrolled the purchase? She, John, his brother William, and my great-grandmother Mary Ann Lewis Laurie Prentice were living there the fateful day that John, Will, and Mary Ann went into Lawrence. Both men were killed in Quantrill's raid. (Amelie seems to have been 7 or 8 months pregnant, probably the reason she didn't make the trip.) I was unable to find probate records of what happened to the property. She died shortly after she moved back to New Orleans.
