There was a Pranger at Yakima, Washington that owned a sign company and far as I know the business is still there but not owned by that family in 60 plus years anyway. The name was still on many billboards at 1970.
There are Pranger's in the Carrollton, IL area and at 1930's part of that family migrated west to Oregon for the health of a son who had consumption. They were at Nez Perce, ID for a time.
The first Pranger's of this line to America were:
Bernard Henry Pranger and his wife, Helena Snyder, who came on the ship Republick, sailed from Bremen to New Orleans, then took river boat to St. Louis, MO. The oldest son, John Bernard came to America a few years earlier. Bernard and Helena with 3 of the children from his first marriage and four from the second marriage arrived in New Orleans on Nov. 25, 1858.
At 1870 this family is on census at Greene County, IL and they were from Hannover, Germany.
Will attempt to send your e-mail to a Pranger researcher should I locate one of them in my files. However, the information is old and probably only decendants are surviving them and don't have many names and addresses for them.
Good luck in your search.
