My husbands' family live in the Portland, OR area and have researched the Pranger family and sent information to us. The names are much the same as in your message.

"Bernard Henry Pranger (b. 1801) and his second wife, Helena Snyder (b. 1811), came to America on the Ship Republick, sailed from Bremen to New Orleans, then took river boat to St. Louis, Missouri. The oldest son, John Bernard came to America a few years earlier. Bernard and Helena with three of the children from his first marriage and four from the second marriage arrived in New Orleans on Nov. 25, 1858." At 1870 the family was at Greene County, IL. At 1880 and they were all born at Hanover, Germany. At 1880 some of the family was listed in Macoupin County.
John Henry Pranger, b. at Hanover, Germany 13 Dec 1848 died Feb 1930 at Carrollton, IL
The family settled in the Carrollton, IL area and many are still there today. The Gerhard Henry Pranger (b. 20 Aug 1842 at Hannover province--possibly Werlte?-- and d. 30 June 1919 at Hillsboro, Washington County, Oregon)branch went to Idaho and then on to Oregon for the health of one of their children. They were and are Catholic and there were twins in the family.

If this sounds familiar can put you in touch with this family.
