Early Pratts in Ferris, Texas Cemetery
I volunteer for http://www.findagrave.comhttp://www.findagrave.com to take photos of tombstones in local cemeteries. I recently was tasked with taking photos at Bluff Springs Cemetery in Ferris, Texas.
The cemetery is in terrible condition. The ‘access’ road in the directions on findagrave is, at best, an overgrown cow trail. It was not visible from Bluff Springs road, even though it was only
about 100 yards away. There is no kind of ‘marker’ for the ? entrance.
After finding the gate, I found the cemetery overgrown in grass, weeds, thickets, briars, brush, etc. Only a few of the tombstones were not toppled over.
This cemetery has tombstones of families with names such as Batchler, Pratt, Bryant, Fuqua,Hood, Jeffers, Pannell, to name a few of the 173 internments listed.
I understand this cemetery is where the original town of Ferris sprouted before its current location.
It is in desperate need of clearing, clean up, and repair and maintenance.
