Hi there! My father's family name is Prass or Prahs or ??? Have seen atleast 3 different versions in the same family! The reason I am posting this message is that my family comes from a town about 150 miles NE from Posen - Jonkendorf now known as Jonkow.
Between the similarities in the name and the proximity of origin, I thought you might want to know. I have very little information on the family with one notable exception - the headstone of my grandparents shows that my Grandmother's maiden name was also Prahs. My father was not very forthcoming on details. As far as I know, there were atleast 7 brothers n one sister, all of whom, with the exception of my father, stayed in Germany or Poland. I have never communicated with them as my father kept me in ignorance. At his death, I found correspondence indicating that all but one is still alive but I have yet to work up the nerve to introduce myself to people who are essentially strangers to me. Silly really, considering this posting!
