KATE PRENDERGAST and DOMINICK CULLEN
I am looking for information relating to the following marriage, on either Dominick Cullen (sometimes referred to as Cullinane/Culinan) and his first wife Kate (Catherine) Prendergast.
I am not certain if the details below are correct but they were forwarded to me and if anyone has information that is different to this, please don't discount it as it may be more correct.
My grandfatherDominick Cullen's first marriage was to a Kate A. Prendergast from the district of Claremorris in Co. Mayo. Dominick was from Carrick, Ballinlough, County Roscommon.
Dominick Cullen went to Boston some time around 1878. The exact date of his departure is not known. It it thought Dominick met Kate (or Catherine) Prendergast while in America. They both returned to Ireland following the death of Dominick's father, Michael, who died on the 24th August 1881 at the age of 52 and Dominick took over the running of the family farm at
Carrick, Ballinlough.
Dominick was definitely in Ireland in 21st August 1882 where he is recorded as one of the witnesses at his sister, Maria Honoria’s wedding. This would indicate his stay in America was considerably less than 4 years, based on the presumption that he was at least 18 years of age before he immigrated.
It is not known if they met on the ship on the way to America, or while in Boston, or indeed on the ship back to Ireland. This is why I was hoping someone with Prendergast research may be able to fit Kate into their lines.
This was the info a friend of mine found:

I received the above information from a friend, Clair, and she could not find any death details for this child, but they often did not register children when they died. But maybe he did not die and pehaps was adopted by the Prendergast family at the time.
Kate died 6 years after they were married.

For information : there is a Prendergast family in the 1901 Census in Drumineen – Drumineen Kilcolman Clanmorris Mayo and I was wondering if this family were related in any with to the above Kate.
I have seen the name Drumineen also spelt with an 'o' – Dromineen.
Does this Prendergast fit into any lines of those researching. I would love to clarify the above details and/or gain any more info on the connection and family of Kate (Catherine) Prendergast.
Thanks
GERRY CULLEN
