Just checking for any BILLINGS on the PRENTICE site and found my own query with your response. My line is from Asa through Morton BILLINGS b 1812, younger brother of Carleton. Morton B marr. Eliza MICHEL (MICKLE) and they had 8 children, 7 of whom survived childhood.
My great grandmother, Caroline Adah was b 1844 and marr Francis CROSIER. Francis served in the Civil War. Francis and Caroline CROSIER moved to IA in late 1860's and then on to NE by 1880. My grandfather, Frank CROSIER was b in IA and my DAD in NE. I believe that your mother and I are 4th cousins.
I met Dr. Mary STREET at her home in Emmons in the 70's and visited her some years later with my parents. She was the granddaughter of Carleton's daughter, Roxcy, and thus a 2nd cousin to your grandfather, Howard. She had a treasure of EMMONS family material including old letters from Daniel PRENTICE. I hope that some descendant has cherished them.
Have you been to Otsego- Delaware Counties? Is a beautiful area and Ira EMMONS stone home still a sight to see.
I've tried to find other descendants of Asa EMMONS and Eunice PRENTICE. Am sure there are quite a few in Central New York. I have the EMMONS Genealogy compiled by Lucile EMMONS MASON in 1961. Marlene
