Prentiss Gallop/Gallup ca: 1780s GA

I am looking for any information on a Prentiss Gallop / Gallup. He helped found a small town in southeast Georgia - St. Marys -in the late 1780s. (Camden County.)

He was also co-founder of a local trading business called "The Gallop and Wheeler Trading Firm". (Isaac Wheeler - another founder of St. Marys.) The company went out of business in a short time.

The last time his name shows up in local records are on Aug. 25, 1789 when he deeded four lots of land to yet another founder of St. Marys, James Finley.

I have seen a few family histories where the New England Gallop/Gallup family married in with the Prentiss family - perhaps he is the offspring of one of these unions?
