Found the following on the 1860 US Census for Watertown, Jefferson County, New York.

A.A.Prentice age 42 farmer value: 4,000
born in New York. In the same household:

Catharine Prentice age 41 born NY
John Prentice age 15 born NY
Hollister Prentice age 10 born NY
Caroline Prentice age 3 or 5 born NY

Alice (can't read the 1st name well) Prentice age 86 born NY

The page was very difficult to read.

Then in 1870 there is a listing for:
H. Prentice age 21 clerk in insurance born NY.

Hope this helps someone. I am trying to make a possible Prentiss/Prentice to Jackson connection in Watertown, N.Y. But, no luck so far. Will keep looking and I will keep posting any info that I find on Prentice/Prentiss.
