I will have to go somewhere and have what papers I have on the Prentiss family scanned, or I can send them by postal mail.
Alexander Prentiss b. abt 1846 Nova Scotia, Canada. Married Annie Reid, who was b. abt 1853.
Their children that I know of are:
(1)Edward Prentiss b.1879 as listed in the 1900 census. Living in North Plainfield, Somerset County, NJ Edward married Lillian Pearl Kent. In the 1920 census of Newark, Essex County, NJ It has children

Thomas b. 1903
Richard b. 1905
Francis b. 1908
Melvin b. 1909
Violet b. 1916
another person living in the household is a Albert b. 1817.
(2) Alexander Prentiss b. 5 Jan 1887,in Bayonne,NJ. d.11 Feb 1952 in Elizabeth, NJ. Alexander was killed when an airplane crashed into his apartment house. My mother can remember the day this happened. She was outside with her grandmother, Lizzie Layton Prentiss, she had told how horrible his screams were and theycould nothing.
Alexander married Elizabeth (Lizzie) Layton b. 23 Mar 1893. I am sure I have her death date. Will send later.

Verna Prentiss (my maternal grandmother) b. 23 Jul 1917 in Monmouth Co., NJ; d.26 Apr 1981 in Ocean Co., NJ.; Verna m. 16 Oct 1937 Ivins Grant Tiffany b.17 Oct 1912 in Ossining
Westchester Co., NY.; d.3 Jul 1971 in Ocean Co., NJ.
Florence Matilda Prentiss, b.28 Jul 1919 in Ocean Co., NJ.; d. 11 Jul 1994.
Charles Alden Prentiss , again I will have to get his birth and death dates.
(3)Mamie Prentiss b.Jun NJ
(4)Charles Prentiss b.Dec 1891 in NJ.
I will get you all that I have on this family as soon as possible. Thanks again for the photos I am so happy to have them.
