I was looking for my greatgrandfather William H. Prest when I ran across some of the other Prest Family email postings and decided to give a reply. We are taking my aunt and uncle's ashes up north later this year and thought if any of our relatives were up that way or nearby Canada we'd say "hi" if they and we have a few hrs of time to spare.
My father was the Prest in our family and related to W.H. Prest from Sask, Winnipeg, and Ontario. He joined the Army at a very young age and became a USA citizen in the late 1940's. Later he became a Civil Engineer and we lived in Marysville/Yuba City, CA for many years during 1959-early 70's. Bertha Johnson who died age 91-92 (her name after 4-5 husbands - all died except Henery the last one) - was his aunt and a retired math teacher from Canada who had relocated to Auburn. CA. Both of my parents are deceased. They adopted me at 2 years of age. My sister Kimm also was adopted (age 4) and we survive them, I am 55 and live in Pasadena. Kimm is around 51 and lives in Thousand Oaks, CA Area.
Hope all is well with the rest of the Prest's. I was reading from the little No. 30 Diary W.H.Prest kept dated from 1867-1896 and started thinking about family. For some reason my father never really did a lot to seek them out and never gave reason why. Of course it was harder and more expensive in those days. He was definitely the scientific guy and took after WH Prest who won several awards in Alberta for "Floating Ice" papers and the like.
Okay, too long winded. Write if you want.
Craig S. Prest (aka Stanley Craig Prest)
